Coaching
The Programme
The Performance Coaching Programme provides flexible, focussed development tailored to each individual, aimed at maximising personal performance and job satisfaction.
An underlying structure is likely to include:
- Defining an agenda for the programme whilst building a relationship of trust between the client and the coach
- Analysis of patterns of behaving, thinking and feeling
- Identification of development areas to be addressed by coaching
- Developing ways to improve performance
- Identification of training needs
- Review of career to date as well as future aspirations and opportunities
Any individual undergoing coaching has a set of behaviours, thoughts and feelings which work well for them in some situations but not in others. A coaching programme can increase the range of approaches which an individual may adopt in particular situations to improve performance.
Having identified areas for development, the coach will generally:
- Review the individual's current approach to the development areas identified
- Identify when that approach is successful and when it is not
- Together develop new approaches for the individual to use
- Identify and address any resistance the individual may have to trying out the new approaches identified
- Agree how the individual can most effectively apply the new approaches
- Review the effectiveness of the new approaches and refine them over time
Confidentiality is essential to the success of the process, so individuals can discuss any aspect of their work openly, without fear of consequences.
Feedback which the client has obtained through appraisals, 360° feedback and psychometric testing, can be useful in identifying areas for improvement.
Programmes vary both in duration and frequency of meetings, to meet the needs of each client.
